Sarastro

Far beyond the poem

Lady Godiva has fallen!

I was riding beside her and suddenly

It started to blow hard and rained and you said

that was lightning and thunder too (this I can’t remember)

and lightning struck the church tower and flashed over

your hair so red that really was a thunderstorm

and I was in a hurry to hold you but the heart was

acting just like the sky and I suddenly heard

the cry: LADY GODIVA HAS FALLEN!

there is no electric storm nor women riding

naked in Marrakesh nor rain in the Sahara

I’ve been in many countries in many squares

and I contemplated disgracefully magnetized

but I never in any time fell

oh Godiva we love you sit on the hair

and ride again.
